Bird House
We aimed to create a house that combines privacy and openness by using vaulted roofs, a pre-modern typology characteristic of Jordan. The three differently sized vaulted roofs are arranged separately, allowing life to be fluid and adaptable. The vault containing the living room, the center of life, is placed in a semi-outdoor area with the best view. The walls, which seem to rise and grow from the ground and are made of stones from the surrounding site, support the concrete vaulted roof. By doing so, we planned for life to blend seamlessly with the surrounding area.
During the site visit, we observed birds soaring through the air, briefly alighting on the ground before taking flight once more. This sight inspired us to create architecture that effortlessly connects human with the sky and earth—like a bird.
