The Suspended House in Tateshina
USE: Residential
LOCATION: Tateshina, Japan
TOTAL AREA: 42m2
PROGRAM: House
This is a proposal for a small house competition in Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture. It is located in a place surrounded by nature and aims to create a "Saikai City-like lifestyle" that serves as a community space in the countryside. The design incorporates two main features: 1) large moving walls that open the house to nature, making it blend into the surroundings, and 2) a "trigger tower" that serves both as the rail for the moving walls and is equipped with features to enrich daily life and encourage community living.
The house is uniquely designed with a triangular cross-section, where one side of the triangle can be moved electronically to project the interior space into nature, incorporating a slightly unconventional idea. Additionally, the wooden structure of the house continues to the exterior, allowing the framework (wood tower) to be used for various activities.
